Not a crazy early morning start (5.45am) but because Jackie was out on the town the night before downing the vino and so she and so we didn't sleep that well. After catching the bus to Euston we grabbed some breakfast and snacks and then boarded the train. We realised our seats were not together, but luckily that train was quite empty, so ended up together anyway. Uneventful journey but stunning rolling misty countryside all the way to Glasgow.
The train drivers changed midway there and by the time we were further north we couldn't understand what was being said over the speaker because the accent was so thick. We arrived just after midday and then wandered up to our hotel, but we were too early for checking in so dropped our bags and went for a wander.
We hit up the Mitchell Library then kept walking down Argyle St until we hit Mother India's Cafe which was a recommendation from Jackie work colleague. Really really good Indian food.
We then walked over to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum before wandering through Kelvingrove Park.
After that it was back to the hotel for a nap for Jackie and some football watching for Ryan. We also played around with the lights, blinds and entertainment because this hotel is really hi tech and everything is controlled via an iPad.
After Jackie's nap we took an evening walk over to George Square which looked amazing in the dark, then walked to Banana Leaf for dinner which was really yummy Malaysian.
We were pretty tired so back to the hotel room after wandering around for a bit, then an episode of walking dead and stranger things and then bed.
Then Sunday morning up at around 8, out on the town to have breakfast which was ok but not amazing, but the weather was crisp blue skies so the town was looking great in the morning sunlight.
After brekky back to the hotel to check out, then onwards to The Necropolis and the Glasgow Cathedral for a view over parts of the city.
After that walk through The People's Palace & Winter Garden and onwards down to the river Clyde. From there we walked west back towards town, explored the The Lighthouse and then found some lunch at RAMEN DAYO. Lunch was also good. We had eaten really well in Glasgow, better than London for sure!
We did a wee bit of window shopping then made our way back to our hotel, grabbed our suitcase and then walked back to the central train station for our train home. That is where we are now, heading home at 5pm after a wonderful weekend in Glasgow!
