Had a lateish start this morning, didn't wake up until 8.30 and got to brekky at 9.

Enjoyed the unlimited coffee and buffet brekky before heading out to the tourist info centre to ask about travelling to a nearby town. We were advised to take the train but there wasn't one for another 2.5 hours so we decided it might be best to go tomorrow instead. Seeing as our Verona card was still valid, we walked over to the Juliet's tomb. It was more of the same Jesus stuff, so we did a quick look through, saw the tomb and decided that was enough. We then thought we might go up to the top of the hill to see the panoramic view of Verona and we started walking, for maybe 20 minutes in the pouring rain, before deciding a cup of coffee was a better idea. The cafe we went to was recommended in a book we saw at the wine bar we went to the first night. Of course the coffee was delicious, and the barista was even kind enough to write my name in the cappuccino.

By that time it was almost midday, and we figured it might be worth it to go to the town after all, so we started walking towards the train station, but we didn't realise we'd put in the wrong train station. Ended up walking for 40 mins in the rain and got super drenched. By the time we arrived at the wrong train station it was too late to get to the town in time for their lunch service, as here they only open for 2 hours for lunch, then not again until 7pm.
Defeated, we caught the bus and ended up going the wrong way, before it turned back around to go the right way, and we hopped off to eat at a restaurant we saw had good reviews. We ordered an amazing charcuterie and cheese board, some pasta and sliced beef and salad - those were ok.

Luckily by the time we finished lunch, the sun came out so we hopped on the 32 bus and headed over to the bottom of the hill to climb up for the view. It was stunning when we got to the top - even more amazing when the sunlight hit the roofs of the city.

Afterwards we went back to town, had a quick look at the Saint Anastasia Church, then grabbed some gelato before heading back to the hotel for a rest as our feet were super sore from all the walking.
Did the go back out until 8pm for dinner. Found a traditional restaurant that served homemade pasta. Ryan ordered the gnocchi with horse meat and I ate some parpedelle with duck ragout - was not bad.. although I think we keep comparing it to the amazing Italian food we had in albania, and everything else just comes up short. The quest continues...
