We decided to eat out for breakfast as we hadn't spoilt ourselves enough over the past few months, and our trip would soon be coming to an end. We walked down the main pedestrian fare which has heaps of cafes, but none were doing food, just coffee or booze. Could be how the Serbians keep so fit - no breakfast just an espresso and a fag.
We found a place down "tinker alley", which is the cool drinking street where we had dinner the night before.
After brekky we set off for the castle, trying our best to keep to the shadows out of the sun.

It's a massive structure so we didn't explore it too much, setting off in a straight line across it. We walked like crabs, skittering between the shade offered by various trees.

Once on the other side we set off for the Crveni Kst concentration camp. It's one of the few nazi concentration camps still left standing in Europe, and we were keen to see it. Unfortunately when we got there turns out it's closed on Mondays... and Monday is the only day we have in Nis to explore. Bummer.
So with that option out the way we caught a bus to the Skull Tower. It was a torturous bus journey - no air con, no windows, crammed with people, the humidity and heat unbearable. I wish we had a picture of the sweat dripping off our faces.
Well if that was the price we would have to pay for the chance to see the Skull tower we would do it... but alas the tower was also closed on Mondays. So all for naught.
We felt a bit defeated and it was terribly hot, so the only thing we could do was strike a gangsta pose to keep our spirits up.

We walked over to a nearby cafe hotspot, St. Sava Park, and grab a drink.

We chilled out for a bit with our drinks then caught a bus back into the centre of town. We did a bit of window shopping, then grabbed some lunch at a place doing traditional Serbian food. Jackie had a beef gulash which she said was the best she had ever had.

We had been destroyed by the heat so headed back home to recover in the air con. After watching an episode of GOT we headed out to the bars of Nis to watch Italy conquer Spain in the Euros, Jackie grabbing an icecream to complement my beer.

After that a quick takeaway pasta dinner, then off home to relax.
