Europe Trip Day 66: Zemun

Heat was unbearable today. Even when we walked to breakfast it was already around 27 degrees. We ate brekky at this hipster place I found in a blog, only a 10 minute walk away. Turns out it was expensive and the portions were small, but the food was pretty tasty, so whatevs. We wanted to find another place for a second breakfast but we couldn't find a good cafe and it was getting hotter so we went back to the apartment to get ready for the day. Within an hour we were back on the street grabbing a bus to Zemun. There was some difficulty buying a bus ticket as you're supposed to buy unlimited ride 1 day tickets from these newspaper shops, but for some reason this woman wouldn't sell them to us. Eventually found one shop that sold them to us for about $3 a ticket.
As the heat reached 31 degrees we arrived in Zemun old town and headed straight for the Gardos Tower.
Thankfully when we finished the uphill climb to the base of the tower there was a strong breeze and we stopped to take a breather. Then paid 200 dinar pp to climb up the tower which is 36m in height but you can only go up about 27m. The view was great though and we saw everything from the Danube to the modern city and the great war island.
Took a drink break at a cafe when we climbed back down and then went for a nice lunch on the quay. The winds off the Danube were mighty strong though and everything in the restaurant was flapping around.
When we finished lunch, it was still crazy hot so we jumped on the first bus home and just chilled out in our apartment with the aircon while Ryan watched the euros.
Later on just found a random Italian restaurant for dinner, and we wanted to go get a massage but the place was completely booked. Now just back at home, Ryan watching the Germany vs Poland match.
