Europe Trip Day 64: Choo Choo!

Woke up from a terrible sleep as the sofabed was hard and uneven. But we had a train to catch so up we got, had brekky and walked the 10 minutes to the train station. We wanted to get some food (specifically pastrami cheese roll) for the 10 hour ride, but we weren't allowed to go into the bus station cafe (where we bought it last time) and we couldn't find any outside so just grabbed a water. The train rolled in late at 10.15am and we found our seats right by the window.

Train pulling in

There was a mum and her kid sitting in our seats (we paid an extra 3 euro pp to reserve these seats) so we asked them to move over buddy.

The train was much more modern and clean than I'd imagined, with really plush seats that could be reclined all the way back to a sleeper seat. Of course, the toilet was gross but at least we didn't need it that often.

The views were stunning as we rolled through the north of Montenegro and entered Serbia. We were lucky enough to have reserved seats on the left so had great views of the mountains, rivers and cute farm houses and animals.

Bye Montenegro!

The kid in the carriage was super hyper though, and the mum kept feeding him chips, chocolate and sugar lollies. He literally spent the entire 10 hour journey jibber jabbering about nothing, at one stage he sang to himself while his mum slept.
Around lunch time we decided to get some food from the train restaurant. Funnily, the restaurant part was an old carriage and had the most retro fittings, complete with red velvet seating. Ryan ordered us sandwiches which ended up being super expensive so we decided we would not order again and have to wait til Belgrade for our next feed.

We passed the time napping, reading our books, and Ryan even watched a movie. But after around 7 hours Ryan started to get really bored, so we played a few games until the train finally arrived in Belgrade at 8.30pm.
We immediately got in touch with the owner of the apartment we're staying at and made our way there. It's a huge apartment right in the centre of the city, so we're excited to go explore tomorrow.
