Europe Trip Day 62: Rafting Tara

Woke up to the sound of heavy rain so we were worried about our rafting being cancelled. Luckily after an email and phone call, we found out it was still on, so headed to the pick up area at 9.30 and went on our way.
After a 30 minute drive, we got to the rafting place, put on wetsuits and wet boots and drove another 10 minutes to the starting point on Canyon Tara

Walking down to our rafts

Then began our 40km rafting adventure which turned out to be much tamer than expected. When we booked it we were thinking we'd be battling crazy rapids. Instead we experienced calm waters and a mild rapid every 1km or so. Still, the view of the canyon from the water was beautiful and we saw some cool nature. The best part for me was how peaceful it was - there was no traffic noise, no people; just fresh air, birds and the sound of the rushing water.

View of the famous bridge (from Google because I didn't have time to take my camera out at this part)

View as we raft

At about 12km all the other people got off and just Ryan and I continued because we paid for a full day. I think it was worth us going full day though because we got to go through more rapids and see some waterfalls.

We stopped for lunch on a little sand part of the canyon. Had a packed lunch of delicious pastrami and cheese sandwich, Mars bar, juice, banana.

Got to the end around 3.30pm and jumped in the van to ascend the steep mountain. Saw some great views on the way and stopped for a photo.

The end of 40km!!! Good one mate
