On the menu today was a 20km round trip hike to the Blue Eye.
We were up at 7.30 to try and get a jump on the sun and the heat but unfortunately breakfast wasn't served till around 8.30. It was measly fair, bread, butter jam and tea. Not the protein we were hoping for to sustain us through the day.

We ended up leaving around 9, following the downward flow of the Lumi I Theth river as it pounded its way south.

After three hours of glorious hiking we made it to a small town called Nderlysaj. Luckily a small restaurant was open so we had a lunch of fried, small local fish, bread, chips and sald. All washed down with ice cold spring water.

I then made use of the washroom which was the squatter type. After doing my business I picked up the sprayer to give the old man a wash down as they didn't do toilet paper, but I didn't realise the shower had a hot and cold tap. Scolding hot water burnt my anus...who knew they had such good hot water systems out in the middle of nowhere.
After lunch we resumed our journey towards the Blue Eye, walking the final hour up the gorge to the Blue Eye. The eye is a very blue, very beautiful sinkhole fed by a very cold waterfall. I jumped in but stayed for only a second as it was just too cold. Jackie then tried to go in but only managed to get up to her collarbone before jumping out.

We relaxed a bit in the sun, then started the return journey, again following the river. This time however we walked on the left side of the river, which has a very rough gravel road. This was much easier to traverse than the trail we followed getting to the eye, which meant we made it home in only 3 hours. Just before reaching our villa we took our shoes off and bathed our aching feet in the ice cold river water.
