We were super exhausted from our 'Amazing Race' ordeal last night so didn't get out of bed until 10am.
Our Airbnb host made us a tea and then took us up to the rooftop to have a look at the city and get our bearings. Turns out Tel Aviv is very small. The beach is only a 20 minute walk from the city centre, and just a stone's throw away is a completely different city.
We then packed our bags and took the 18 bus to our next Airbnb. We met our host and he gave us a quick overview of the area which is very hipster and cool.
We were starving at that point so we quickly changed then found a nice cafe round the corner for lunch. Funnily the area feels just like Sydney, and sitting in that cafe made us feel like we were in Surry Hills - even the prices were the same! We were also told afterwards we had to give a 10% gratuity.
Afterwards we walked to Old Jaffa where there is the famous flea markets, and lots of outdoor cafes. The atmosphere was electric - there were people everywhere, music blasting, people getting married, arguments in the markets, and general buzz.
I mean the flea markets were literally selling junk, but there was also some amazing furniture and light shops, and some people were selling unique handicrafts closer to the arty areas.
We eventually made our way to the beach, where you could see the Tel Aviv skyline, and walked to the Jaffa Port for more amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Pretty tired by then so we chilled out for a bit in the garden before making our way back.
Of course, we detoured a little when we saw this bakery, selling handmade sweets and breads and savoury tarts. We ended up buying a huge chunk of handmade walnut nougat.
After a little nap we headed out for dinner. We walked along the beach to watch the sunset then found a packed kebab shop and ate THE MOST DELICIOUS KEBABS EVARRRRR. They used skewered meats instead of the shaved ones, so it was super juicy and tender. Ryan and I were moaning as we ate it!
We stopped by the same bakery on the way home and grabbed a potato bread thing for Ryan (who decided it was a great look to down a beer like a bogan as we walked home)
Now waiting for Tuhin back at the place!
