We woke up around 8am and had a nice instant noodle breakfast with Hong Kong milk tea (Jackie's auntie's home made specialty). Then we set off around 9.30am and caught the MTR to Tung Chung. The ride to Tung Chung was quite relaxing, and we laughed about seeing the same scenery for the fourth time since arriving in HK as we'd been going back and forth from the airport. Once we arrived in Tung Chung, we headed into the giant outlet mall to grab some water bottles and snack, to be ready for our walk. After a little consultation with a map, we started our 16km hike in 30 degree heat. The first landmark was the Hau Wong Temple which had a waterfront lawn completely covered in black packing plastic. We then continued along a concreted path which ran along the side of Lantau Island but had few views of the ocean. However there were some lookout points that had amazing views of the mountains and ocean, as well as the huge road link that is being built all the way across to Macau. After 2.5 hours, we stopped at Sai Lo Wan for a cold drink and was served by a lovely little old lady. She told us there was still 1 hours walk to Tai O. By this time we were already pretty tired so the thought of another 60 minutes of walking was worrying. But we continued on and soon enough we saw the roofs of the fishing village just two mountains away. A rocky path was cut into the side of both mountains and as we walked we saw some of the most stunning views of the mountains and ocean and large birds circling.
> After 3.5-4 hours we finally arrived in the village and immediately went looking for food. We settled on a seafood restaurant and ordered a local seafood dish with dried ingredients (Ryan didn't like it) and some good old pineapple seafood fried rice. After gobbling that up Ryan took photos of the village while I walked around eating all the street food. Ended up having an egg waffle and a wife biscuit, which were both yummo. Afterwards we boarded the bus to go back to Tung Chung and absolutely loved the scenic route the bus took. We saw the whole other side of the island and even more amazing views.
> Once back in Tung Chung we had a quick browse of the outlet mall before heading back home to shower and change for dinner.
> Dinner was at 7.30 at my grandparents place in Sai Wan Ho and it was Ryan's first time meeting them. Ma ma had especially made Ryan steamed fish and tomato egg for me. Ryan chatted to ye ye about his time in Sydney and ye ye told him about how he'd pick me up from school every day and buy me a croissant from bakers delight.
> After dinner my auntie took Ryan and I to Tin Hau for dessert where we ate a delicious durian dessert.
> Then we went home and watched Walking Dead before passing out like dead zombies with our sore feet.
