USA: Hiked Out - Day 4

Woke up again in the middle of the night so I'm pretty jealous of jackie right now and her peaceful slumbers. To top it off there's an old school bar radiator heater running along the wall in the bedroom which groans and moans and creaks the entire night as it heats and cools. Came close to tearing it out the wall but thought better of our bond (as I type this it has just switched on...blood pressure rising...).
Jackie woke up feeling ill with a cold from the waterfall freezing that we had yesterday so we slept in till 7.30 then tried to get a move on.
We decided on a walk around the giant sequoias which was meant to be a lot easier than yesterdays hike. I think the previous day took it out of us as we both found it pretty tiring. Was a beautiful walk and the size of the sequoias is mind blowing. They grow pretty slowly and one of the bigger monsters was ~1800 years old. The wind was whipping in off the mountains and by 12 as we returned to the car park we were still freezing. Ate lunch in car and then drove back to the main valley floor for a walk around 'mirror' lake. We were planning on doing the full 8km loop, but three quarters of the way through we started to have doubts as to whether we were on the right track or not, turned back so ended up doing an extra 4km.
Were all hiked out at this point and just wanted to chill out so we headed home. As jack is still under the weather we made dinner and am now in bed watching some classic American crap on the box.
