Sorry for the lack of updates, I guess I've fallen off the face of normal life into some kind of communications black hole/paradise.
So I'll try and recount all the amazing things that have happened over the last 26ish days. The weather has progressively got warmer and warmer, we are now hitting low 20's at midday and out on the work site in jeans and long sleeve shirts its getting a bit too warm.
Denmark is still an amazing place, the hills are still green green, the forest are swarming with life, spring is here and the people still very friendly. I've picked up a few odd jobs around the place to earn some cash. Usually start the cash jobs around 3 and work till 6 at which point I'm ready to sleep. Pruning vineyards, tying up vines, moving timber, mowing lawns, digging holes and other kinds of general physical labour is the usual fare. All the people that us WWOOFER'S (willing workers on organic farms) work for are really nice and friendly so it works out well. Elen, the lady that we work for as our main job is also really nice; she tries to find everyone some paid work, has taken us all out (10 of us) for dinner twice already (ie $250), occasionaly bbqs/cooks for us so it really is a nice place I've fallen into.
The last 26 days have really flown by though. Some of the things that we have seen are Williams Bay (below), Valley of the Giants (40m suspended bridge walk among the trees), a local AFL grand final, a local jazz concert, a lot of bush, dragonboat racing, a lot of local wine drinking and a lot of fun.
This weekend in Western Aus was a public holiday and one of the girls who I work with (Mallorie) invited me and Luis (the Brasilian) to join her on a trip with some of her friends up to Lancelin. We drove up there Saturday morning and spent the night there with lots of sand boarding and dune buggy driving thrown in. Was a nice weekend aside from all the bogans up there.
Back in Denmark the brick laying progresses at a slow and steady pace. Our walls are getting straighter and our corners more square but we are still a long way off knowing what we are doing.
As for my fellow WWOOFERS, they are all really nice people who I really enjoy being around. The life we are living here has us all questioning way most people live life in the city. Life definitely moves at a different pace out here. I'm wondering how I'm going to incorporate what I've learnt and experienced out here into the future.
