Day 90, 91, 92, 93

Was a very cold and noisy night in the tent; big trucks would go past quite often and we were only 10 or so metres from the road. I'm in my sleeping bag which is rated to comfort 5 degrees, with another sheet around me and another sheet around the sleeping bag, and track pants/socks/a jacket on and I'm still freezing each night. I think the tents lack of a fly really let's the cold in; zero insulation.
So anyway we woke up to the keys bring locked in the car; the piece of wire I usually keep wrapped around the spare wheel was gone after the new wheels I bought in Broome were put on. Que me with no glasses on and christelle searching for a piece of wire. Everyone esle aside from one van has pushed off from the stop but luckily the lady in the vam was nice enough to drive 7km to the closest town where she got us a piece of wire. 2 mins later and we were in...
We did a quick oil change right there and then started the drive to the Pinnacles (not sure of the NP name). Was cool and all but very touristy especially as it's so close to Perth. We were meant to drive from there south along a dirt road to some free camping spots but the dirt road was closed so instead we have driven towards Perth and stopped beside a windfarm information place (only place we could find without signs saying NO camping, amazing that in a country as big as Aus you can't camp for free in 99% of the spots).
The next morning we drove to Perth which was uneventful. They seem to have some of this planning thing happening that Sydney seems to miss out on (or maybe its the mining wealth). Whatever it is they have nice double carriage/double lane roads leading into the city with a train line running down the middle and lots of train stations/parking near each offramp; what a ground breaking idea.
As for Perth itself I can see why people describe it as a big country town, the city centre is quite small and quite dead in the evenings. It also appears the things I heard before arriving are true; theres a bit of a violent side to Perth, too much mining money and country hicks at a guess. So since I arrived on Sunday I have walked around the city, checked out Kings Park, walked a lot. Today was spent getting my resume ready and I'm going to have a quick look around for a job as I wouldn't mind saving a bit more before I hit the final leg back to Sydney.
