Woke up early (6.30, the sun is up at like 4), had brekky and then went on the 7km 'bungle' walk; was pretty cool with an enormous gorge/cavern thing with a pool at the bottom in one part, then the bungles which you walk around an then a final part with a nice view. As the sun is up so early it really starts to get warm quickly so we tried to get that finished early. After the walk we drove back along the 4wd track to the highway and then back to Kununara. Side note, It's really amazing how many new expensive 4wds there are going around; Australia really has a lot of wealth going around.
Back in kununara and we payed $4 for a shower at the shell servo station (cheap but a bit grimy, a truck stop so kinda expected). More fuel, food, money on the credit card, an then off towards the Gibb River road. Spent the night at a rest area along the highway.
This morning we got up early again and were on the road driving by 7.30. The car by 10am was at 40C which is pretty typical of each day, we are too stingy to pay for the extra fuel for aircon : /
The road isnt *that* bad, some bits are nice and smooth, some really rocky, some bits are really stuffed with enormous corragations but worst is just the enrmous amounts of dust blowen around by the cars. Get stuck behind someone slow and you basically cant get close enough to pass them safely. I end up just slowing down to their speed. The bad part is our no aircon policy means no cool air coming in, windows open means a face full of red/white/grey road.
We checked out the national park along the way and lots of the gorges; was a lot of driving in some shit conditions for not that much amazing stuff but it's part of the experience I guess. Right now we are camped by the side of the road at a rest area about 400 km from Kununara. Had a really nice sunset but god there is some competition for dinner around here in the form of little black flying f$#kers.
