Day 51, 52, 53

So from my last post Denise and I woke up in Mataranka, had breakfast and then tried our hand at some Barramundi fishing. No crocks or barra to be seen and the heat meant we didn't spend too long out and about. We drove over to Katherine and checked out the hot springs, bought some more food and fuel, then drove over to a place called the Springvale homestead where were going to spend the night. We had a really nice, peaceful spot next to a creek that was brimming with tame turtles and barra, that is until some yobos in a ute rocked up blasting their music so everyone in the camp could hear it. So we stayed the night at the homestead where thankfully the yobos finally shut up, and then the next morning we headed to Katherine
Gorge. The weather by now (since about Mataranka) has been really hot. I know I complained bitterely back in Tas about the cold and rain but it appears like there is no middle ground, only extremes in aus. Denice was running out of money so at Katherine Girfe she skipped the boat cruise but I splurged the $60 and got on the 2 hr 'exhilirator' (exihilaration not included). It was nice seeing the gorge but it wasn't really that amazing, probably the best part of it was hearing the skipper recount all the gruesome ways people have been
killed by crocodiles in the NT. From Katherine we drove to Litchfield NP where we drove the afternoon
away and then camped near Florence Falls. After a short swim in the fading light we had dinner and then tried to fall asleep in the stifiling heat. The next day we planned to check out the main attractions of litchfield such as the lost city but it appeared that everything was still closed (presumably because it's still near the end of the wet season). So instead of really exploring the park we looked at what was open, went for another swim at Florence Falls and then drove on to Darwin. I'm checked into the Yha now but tomorrow I'm probably going to go
looking for a cheaper campsite and someone else to join me in Kathmandu as Denise as I said earlier is running out of money and needs to head over to Brisbane. So time to see the sights of Darwin
